Les Roches Douvres is a community of 81 apartments in three recently built residences, located at the edge of St. Briac sur Mer, just 300m from the nearest beaches and the golf course. St. Briac sur Mer is a small and typical Breton fishing port located 17km from St Malo and 60km from Mont Saint Michel. The closest town to St Briac is DINARD, known as the "Perle de la côte d'Emeraude" (The Jewel of the Emerald Coast), the seaside resort has kept its Belle Epoque feel... There are three different types of apartments here; STUDIOS (S2) These apartments are sleep 2 people and cover an area of approx. 21m2 They have a living room with double sofabed, kitchenette with a microwave/grill and dishwasher, a shower/bathroom and terrace furnished with table and chairs. 1 BEDROOM APARTMENTS (24) These apartments are sometimes split-level and sleep 2-4 people. They are approx. 35m² with a living room with single sofabed and stowaway single bed and a separate double bedroom. The kitchenette has a microwave/grill and dishwasher and there is a shower/bathroom and terrace furnished with table and chairs. 2 BEDROOM APARTMENTS (36X) These apartments are sometimes split-level and sleep 2-6 people. They are approx. 45m² with a living room with single sofabed and stowaway single bed. There are two separate bedrooms, one with double bed and a small twin bedroom. The kitchenette has a microwave/grill and dishwasher and there is a shower/bathroom and terrace furnished with table and chairs. Facilities include a large indoor heated pool covering 80m2 with a removable roof, gym, communal lounge, satellite television, left-luggage room, bike storage room, loan of cots and high chairs (subject to availability - state at time of booking). There is also a sauna on site (payable - €8/session or €39/7 sessions - 1 free sauna session/apt/week), a laundry room and free parking. Animals are accepted for a small extra charge and linen and towels cal be provided - see prices for details. The spa will be open from 12 June until 11 September. The residence is ideally situated in St Briac, on the Cote de Emeraude (Emerald Coast) within 300m of the nearest beach and close to the golf course. St Briac has been the inspiration of many artists including Renoir, Nozal, Rivière, Signac and Bertrand. Close to the sea and the towns of Dinard, St Malo and St. Lunaire, on the estuary of the Fremur, St. Briac has a lively seafront area which sports interesting restaurants. There is a yachting school, and bicycle hire available. St Briac looks very pretty at night, and has lots of little lanes to fascinate the visitor. Market Day is Thursday and Friday mornings. There are plenty of music and art-related events throughout the summer, as well as over 20 art galleries in nearby Dinard, but there are also excellent beaches within easy reach, some of which have children's clubs. In the area, you will also find:- Hot air ballooning Kayaking Wind-surfing Go-Karting Pedalos Horse-riding Golf Mini-Golf Tennis Sailing Walking It's even possible to take a helicopter ride over the coast to Mont St Michel! The Route de Rock music festival takes place in August, and is a highlight of the French festival scene. Blessed with a great venue within the crumbling ramparts of an old castle in Saint-Malo, La Route du Rock Festival has blossomed into a major musical event. In nearby St Lunaire, the composer Debussy was inspired to write "La Mer" when staying here. A slightly more sophisticated beach town, with four sandy beaches, excellent for families. In the village, lovers of Breton heritage, will enjoy the old church, one of the few Romanesque buildings in Brittany. St Malo just a few kilometres away is the home of the Corsairs, pirates who went out to sea gain booty, so the town is full of the atmosphere of that time. Surrounded by rampart walls, it is possible to walk around the top of these and look out to sea and over the town. Summer time in St. Malo is full of street artists, entertainers and the restaurants and bars nearly all have outside seating. If you come to Brittany by sea, you cannot but help to be entranced by the view of the town and its tall buildings and Cathedral spire. Visit the Musée d'Histoire, and the Maison de Corsaire. Go to the Pointe de Groin (a wild-life area) for a superb view of Mont St. Michel. Linen is not included in the price of the rental, but can be hired for a small extra charge - see prices below.
