Just 800m from the centre of Samoens, Residence Les Fermes de Samoens
is a group of small recently built traditional-style residences (3 storeys) and terraced chalets (130 apartments
in total) with swimming pool, sauna and steam room.
Popular with visitors in both Summer and winter, Samoens has been designated a 'Monument Historique' (listed village)
and 'village fleuri' (flowered village) due to its outstanding natural beauty. Alongside the ancient attractions,
there are superb modern facilities in the village, with great swimming pools for adults and kids, adventure parks,
over 400km of mountain bike trails, 450km marked trails for great hikes and more. Many chairlifts are open in the
summer to take you up - you can even take your mountain bike, so all you have to do is ride down.
Just 400m from the nearest shops and 800m from the centre of the village, there are several different types of
apartments here;
1 BEDROOM APARTMENTS (24)
Sleeping 2-4 people, these apartments cover an area of approx. 30/40m²
with a living room with single sofabed and stowaway single bed and a separate double bedroom. The kitchenette has
a mini-oven and dishwasher and there is a shower/bathroom.
2 BEDROOM APARTMENTS (36/36X)
These apartments are sometimes split-level and sleep 2-6 people.
They are approx. 36/45m² with a living room with single sofabed and stowaway single bed. There are two separate
bedrooms, one with double bed and second bedroom with bunk beds. The kitchenette has a min-oven and dishwasher
and there is a shower/bathroom.
2 BEDROOM ALCOVE OR 3 BEDROOM APARTMENTS (38K/48)
These apartments are sometimes split-level and sleep 2-8 people.
They are approx. 50m² with a living room with single sofabed and stowaway single bed. There are is a bedroom
with double bed and a second room with bunk beds. Additionally there is either an alcover or a third bedroom with
bunk beds (some apartments may have a slightly different lay-out. The kitchenette has a min-oven and dishwasher
and there is a shower/bathroom.
Facilities include a small indoor heated swimming pool and whirlpool plus a larger outdoor pool open in July and
August, Sauna and steam room (€8 / session or €39 for 7 sessions, 1 free sauna or steam room session is offered
per apartment, per week), WiFi, pool table (payable), gym, communal lounge with open fire as well as team and coffee
making facilities. Cots and high chairs for children up to 2 are offered free of charge (subject to availability
- state at time of booking).
Samoens has so much to offer, that the only problem might be deciding what not to do! There are plenty of shops,
cafes, bars and restaurants in and around the village including a Champion supermarket, weekly wine-tasting with
a local expert, beautiful local chapels to visit on a guided tour - many dating back to the 17th Century and botanical
gardens with the ruins of a 12th Century castle. Market day is Wednesday and you can find local crafts, fresh produce,
ceramics etc. At the heart of the village is the Gros Tilleul - a large lime tree dating back to 1438, and now
a popular meeting place. For those looking for a more active break, in the Grand Massif you can experience a whole
range of sports such as Walking and hiking, cycling, paragliding, swimming, quad-biking, port holing and even helicopter
flights over Mont Blanc!
